I've been an instructional designer in title for about two years but I've been doing instructional design, curriculum development, and learning experience design for as long as I've been involved in education. Below, you will find a number of projects that I have worked on ranging from entire curriculum redesigns to asynchronous course development to trainings on how to do large-scale research projects.
My goal is always to make education meaningful, memorable, inclusive, equitable, and freeing and I do this in a number of ways. Whether that is through the use of specific pedagogical models and techniques or through the use of specific educational technologies, my goals remain focused on student learning and development.

1. Philosophy Major Curriculum Redesign
Project Description: This project was a total program overhaul of the Philosophy Major at Greenville University. It involved both the creation of new courses and the reimagining and redesigning of courses that had existed for 20+ years in basically the same format.

2. Honors Thesis Bootcamp
Project Description: Students in the honors program were required to complete a year-long research project to graduate with honors. Few of them had ever worked on a research-project of that size before. I partnered with the library to create both a training event (Thesis Bootcamp) and a research project resource (Honors Thesis Bible) to help students learn what they needed to do and find their way to the completion of a successful honors thesis project.

3. Asynchronous Online Course Development
Project Description: I was asked to adjunct as a sabbatical replacement and had to develop an asychronous online course for students in the middle of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. I used backwards design to determine what the students needed to learn in the course and what resources would be most helpful for accomplishing those learning goals. I then used Jose Antonio Bowen's "Teach Naked" approach to organize the course and construct a design that would provide me with valuable feedback from students regarding what they were learning and help them maintain their progress towards course completion.

4. Lightboard Project/Critical Thinking Course
Project Description: I was teaching a critical thinking course in which I had to teach some logical syntax. I had seen a number of tablet/screencast videos from other instructors teaching similar content and thought that it might work better to use a lightboard. I constructed one of my own and used my green screen to develop the lessons so that students could see what I was writing without having to look at the back of my head. The video above is one of my early attempts at the approach.

5. McAllaster Lecture Series Redesign
Project Description: An existing program was no longer sustainable due to budget constraints and being out of sync with the needs of students. I redesigned this lecture series to meet the needs of students, support precarious and junior faculty members, and work within our budgetary and programmatic limitations.
